ENEVATE Events in Newcastle

From 13. - 16. September 2011 the ENEVATE Partners came together to participate in a conference and several workshops on sustainable e-mobility in Europe.

The conferenc was organised by FTS - Future Transport Systems and Narec and helt in Newcastle upon Tyne. Almost 100 participants took part in the workshops and the conference. The highlight of the event was the testing of electric vehicles at the Nissan test track on the first day of the event.

The conference was dealing with the following key issues:

  • How to achieve long term sustainability for the current EV infrastructure pilots
  • the next major objective Interoperability and integration are key issues for automotive, infrastructure, private and public sector stakeholders
  • Multi stakeholder approaches will be required to continue the increase in momentum towards the successful roll out of electric vehicles

At the workshop the groups wanted to identify some of the key experiences and lessons learned from organisations of different sizes involved in EV development - supply chain, finance, technical, skills etc.

The aim, developing discussions around presentations and identifying some of the key issues encountered by those developing EV at this early stage in the market was quite successful. Key issues that were explored were about skills and capacity development and availability, supply chain and business growth.
