Electric Vehicle Technology

In order to accelerate the introduction of e-mobility and create a global competitive position of the NWE region, strong and integral supply chains are needed. The electric vehicle (EV) supply chain will differ greatly from the conventional supply chain for vehicles with internal combustion engine (ICE) due to linkages to other industries (e. g. energy supply). Hence innovation will come from other industry sectors and from SME's currently not involved in the automotive supply chain.

A leading position in EV technology and production can only be achieved, if we succeed in bundling the automotive competences and EV competences from industry, R&D and educational resources in Europe. New supply chains for EV have to be created and fostered to enhance the development of EV and to reduce production costs. A mayor thread is the integration of newcomers, innovators and SME into automotive supply chains without giving up the standards for quality and performance. This will be essential for Europe to keep it's leading position in automotive industry.
